A LETTER TO SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon where I and my family were having lunch when my father's phone popped up with a notification. His eyes were wide open and he suddenly turned on the news. All of us were in shock. It was a piece of terrifying news for everyone and I am pretty sure everybody felt the same way I did.
After this incident, there were a lot of posts about Sushant's death about why and how. After reading all of those, there is something I wanna tell him, in fact, we all do.
Who knew that such a young, energetic, fun-loving man was hiding some sorrow deep down his heart. We all wish that he had reached out to some of his friends or maybe family. We never met him but we all know how humble, sincere, and kind-hearted he was. We might never know what led such a successful and smart soul to take a step like this but wherever he is, let's just pray that he is at peace.
He was too young.
Dear Sushant,
You were the kind of person we wrote stories about. You were someone who excelled at academics, got a scholarship offered at the number one University of the World, but left that opportunity to pursue your passion. When an outsider makes it into Bollywood, he is being talked about. You were that person because it is so rare in the world of nepotism. You had a knack of picking the most interesting roles. Be it a detective, a cricketer, a father, a guy who climbed mountains, or just a normal guy, you put all of yourself into these roles. You were somebody who did not need awards to be praised.
You impressed us and won our hearts with the most iconic performances. You inspired us to pursue our dreams and battle the odds. You never had to drop your surname just to please a director. You never had to delete some tweets because the famous talk-show host said so. You never had to beg your fans to watch your movie, saying you'll be out of a job because you have no Godfather. We might not realize how hard it was for you, but we do appreciate talent, and we would have still seen your film, still appreciated you and your talent.
Bollywood only makes 10% good films, and you were a part of the 10%. You were so handsome, so charismatic, educated, intelligent, and such a great actor. Yes, it was wrong to give all your films to someone else. Yes, nepotism kills the real talent but if you had continued just on the pace you were, it would have turned out great in the end.
Your Instagram account has all kinds of stuff like energy, cosmos, Sanskrit shlokas, coding, algorithm, and of course, your 50 wishes. You never had the "I am a star" attitude and probably that is why you followed more than six thousand people on your Instagram account, whereas others do not even follow one. But leaving it aside as it is just a virtual world and no amount of followers could show you the love all your fans had for you. You were a thinker. You rose from scratch and were a big threat to nepotism products. You wanted the moon, but did you ever realize that you were the moon!
From Preet in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil to Anni in Chhichhore, it was a pleasure to be your fan. You melted our hearts, won millions of them, then what made you so weak? You were just 34!!
We heard people from the entertainment industry live the best lives, but no, they are the ones who suffer the most.
This goodbye is too painful for words. You were a gem for the industry, even though people didn't realize. And you'll be remembered for years.
You're gone too soon, you didn't deserve it.
Love,
All of Your Fans.
Now, I seriously hate this world of Bollywood. Now, this feels damn personal. It feels as if we all lost someone who was our own. And these hypocrites, of course, I do not have to mention who, are posting stories and giving condolences as if they really cared. Well, if they did, we wouldn't have to see this day.
We never know what a person is going through, or what's going on in his mind. So if somebody tries to talk to you, be kind enough to listen. Do not tell anyone that they cry or think "too much", there's nothing like that. Do not say that you're "one call away" till you mean it.
Hum haar jeet, success failure mein itna ulajh gaye hai... ki zindagi jeena bhool gaye hai... zindagi mein agar kuch sabse zyada important hai... toh woh hi khud zindagi.
-Anni, Chhichhore.
Heart -touching
